The Challenge or Problem Statement
Interapt has revamped its website and wanted to find out how well the revamp worked. Therefore, I initiated a project to determine if the revamp was successful or if Interapt could make any improvements to the site.
The challenge of this project was to ensure that the site met the expectations of old users while also attracting new ones. To do this, I had to first discover who the target audience was, then test the selected targets closely, identify the site's strengths and weaknesses, and provide Interapt with solutions and recommendations.
Solution
To solve this challenge, I planned out what had to be done and created several tasks.

-
Heuristic Evaluation
-
Quantitative and qualitative research
-
Personas, User stories, and Acceptance Criteria
-
Usability testing and analysis
-
Redesign & Prototype
User Research
Since Interapt.com is an IT services website that serves multiple purposes, I chose questions that would give the most insight into what users would be looking for when visiting the site. For the survey, I used Google Forms to come up with 14 questions. The survey was sent to people who had used Interapt's website in the past and to other potential users who might be interested in Interapt's services. 13 users participated in the survey.

Heuristic Evaluation
The heuristic evaluation is conducted for Interapt.com to identify possible usability problems. The site will be tested against Jackob Neilson's 10 usability heuristic rules and rated at various levels of severity.
Molich & Jeffries's three-point scale
1. Minor: delays user briefly.
2. Serious: delays users significantly but eventually allows them to complete the task.
3. Catastrophic: prevents users from completing their tasks.
Heuristic Result
No Catastrophic issues were found during the evaluation; however, multiple Serious issues were identified, as well as many minor issues that needed to be fixed.
Usability Testing
Four different tasks were given to the participants to collect user feedback and record user reaction, each of the tasks is testing different parts/areas of the website. These tasks were determined based on the findings from the previous phase of the analysis.
Scenarios & Tasks include:

-
You are a user entering the site, you want to know the purpose of the site and its main services.
-
You are a college graduate and you are currently looking for a job. You want to check out different job opportunities so you can apply for these job positions.
-
You are an employee and you are currently looking to grow your personal interest. You want to check out different training programs so you can apply for these training.
-
You are an employee and you are currently looking for a company that meets your expectations. You want to find out about the company's background and learn about the culture and the company’s atmosphere.

Usability Testing Findings & Iteration
After conducting usability testing with our potential users, we found some blocker issues and major issues that can prevent the users from completing their tasks.
Blocker Issues (Highest severity)
-
Participants had a hard time finding the training program page and gave up looking for the page
-
Participants had a hard time finding available training opportunity
Major Issues
-
Participants clicked on other CTA buttons and got navigated to different web page
-
Participant missed the CTA button when completing the tasks
-
The participants were overwhelmed by the amount of text on the website.

Prototype To-Do List from Usability Analysis
-
Rework the navigation of the training program
-
Rework the navigation of "What we do" into simple terms
-
Implement a footer section
-
Rework the home page to make the navigation simpler
-
Remove overloaded text and replace it with bullet points
-
Rework on CTA and ensure the most relevant information is located at the top of the page
-
Reorganization of the different work categories

Challenges & Conclusion
The Interapt redesign was a great challenge. I started out by conducting a Heuristic Evaluation of the website. Afterward, performed some research work and identified potential users and target audiences. In the end, conducting one on one interviews with the potential users and based on their feedback redesigned the website with improved usability.
During this project, I learned:

-
How to conduct a usability test with the user
-
Interviewing techniques and how to control the flow of the interview
-
Time management and creating MVPs
-
Implementation of UX techniques (personas, empathy maps) and UX research
Future Scope
While I redesigned the website according to user feedback,
I also came up with some possible future scopes of work to be undertaken.
-
Further usability testing of the prototype with potential users
-
Cover pain points from the serious and minor categories and implement them in the redesign
-
Do more research on the market and competitive analysis
